MENGELE'S EXPERIMENTS ON HUMANS
Mengele’s experience in Auschwitz is the reason why he has such a big name for himself. Mengele was a smart man; he’d used his experience in Auschwitz as an opportunity to perform the most gruesome experiments on the Jewish people to improve his own understanding on human heredity and human genetics. Mengele’s experiments and testings that he had done in Auschwitz hasn't improved our daily understandings of human genetics today, but what he succeeded on doing was killing hundreds of innocent human beings, and of course they were all Jewish. Mengele had a preposterous obsession with twins, especially abnormal beings such as dwarfs and midgets. Mengele was so obsessed with twins to the point where he’d order the SS officers in search for twins and abnormal beings just so he can test his limits and improve his own understanding of human heredity. Mengele would conduct horrendous experiments even on children where he’d be injecting chemicals into children’s eyes just so he could attempt to change their eye colors. As he quotes; "In June 1943 I went to the Gypsy camp in Birkenau, I saw a wooden table. On it were samples of eyes, they each had a number and a letter. The eyes were very pale yellow to bright blue, green and violet." - Josef Mengele. Mendele conducted many more gruesome experiments without anesthetic such as removing someone kidney just so he could see what would happen. In October 1943, Mengele was given 14 pairs of Romanian twins, which were also known as “Gypsies.” Mengele had injected the twins chloroform into their hearts; chloroform was a substance that would immediately stop the heart. After he’d got them all dead he would just begin to dissect and open each body peace so he could “experiment” on them. Mengele would also take blood samples of each twins then inject the blood sample into the opposite twin just so he could see what could possibly happen, but the outcome had just been kids with a variety of symptoms such as nausea and headaches. Mengele also attempted to make “conjoined twins” as he connected two of the twin’s bodies by opening their bodies and attaching inner body parts to each other. Mengele had killed approximately 1,500 Jewish twins just to test his understanding of human heredity. Mengele had an absurd mind, even the other SS doctors had seen it as one of the SS doctors had claimed He was capable of being so kind to the children, to have them become fond of him, to bring them sugar, to think of small details in their daily lives, and to do things we would genuinely admire.... And then, next to that,... the crematoria smoke, and these children, tomorrow or in a half-hour, he is going to send them there.” Mengele was known as the “Angel of death” Because all his experiments would lead to innocent people dying and nothing was obtained out of the experiments other than his absurd pleasure. As you can see to the left there is a photo of the Jewish children and twins, waiting to be tested on. In other words they were waiting for their deaths.
